8 Things About Jaxon

1. Jaxon LOVES animals. All animals fascinate Jaxon but reptiles hold a special place in his heart. He has always amazed me with his acceptance of animal behavior. It does not scare him at all. He loves to watch any kind of animal program. Jeff Corwin and Steve Erwin are among his favorites. I hated it when he used to want to watch Jurassic Park all the time. It scared me when I young. I talked with him about it one day and he told me that the animals were not scary that was just their nature and they were hungry. Now he is more into Animal Planet and the Kids Discovery Channel. A perfect Sunday afternoon for Jaxon is to be allowed to lie on my bed and watch Animal Planet for hours.

2. Jaxon knows what he wants. Jaxon wants a life filled with traveling and animals. Two of his favorite places to visit some day are Africa and Australia. He told me last Sunday (out of the blue) that when he gets married someday he wants to take his honeymoon to Africa or Australia. He then pondered that for awhile and told me that he thought Australia would be the best for a honeymoon. I hope he finds a wife when he is an adult that shares his passion.

3. Jaxon loves to learn. The book in the picture above "The World of Animals" is not light reading. It is more of a reference book. It is one of Jaxon's favorite books. He almost never reads fiction. He is always picking out nonfiction books about animals and especially reptiles. Jaxon likes to rattle off different facts and information that his brain has absorbed and that he find interesting. When he finds out a new COOL fact he has me help him repeat it several times and has me ask him about it until he thinks he has it stored in that amazing brain of his. Now that he is reading so well he can usually commit things to memory without my help these days. (so sad)

4. Jaxon loves to explore. Matt and I went boulder climbing last weekend and the rest of my family joined us along with Vikki's brother Lawrence. Lawrence, Greta, and Jaxon spent the whole time exploring the boulders for different species of lizards and catching them to take a closer look. It was not surprising that Jaxon ended up with 4 new lizard friends at home to observe. What was surprising and fun to watch is that when Jaxon got home he hurriedly got out the information that my cousin Adam had mailed him and identified the lizards immediately. He knew exactly where he had seen their pictures before. He then had me look up on the Internet their habitat, mating, and eating habits.

5. Jaxon is a good guy. Other than the occasional teasing that Jaxon can find fun in he is such a good person to everyone around him. He is thoughtful of others and likes to be entertaining. I never see him cross with any friends.

6. Jaxon has a great imagination, I don't think I have ever heard him say he is bored. Since Jaxon could play with toys he has been able to entertain himself. Any time Jaxon got any kind of toy (even from McDonalds) he would treasure it and play with it for hours. He is still very good at using his imagination with his toys or books. Jaxon also loves to tell stories of what he did with his toys or animals. He embellishes his stories to be very entertaining. We have had to have talks about when telling stories is good and when it could be considered lying. He has a very active imagination and it is fun sometimes to just look at him and see him thinking so deeply about a subject. You can almost see the wheels turning.

7. Jaxon loves Ribs!! It is his favorite thing to eat. Peanut butter and honey sandwiches are his staple and he knows how to make them. He took that exact sandwich for the first six months of school to lunch because he was worried about school lunches.

8. He loves to be outdoors and active. Jaxon loves all boy things. He loves to be outside with his friends and playing imaginary outings or catching different bugs. I always Love it when he decides to catch bees or wasps. (UGH) He loves to camp and go swimming. He loves sports though his athletic abilities lean more towards flips and such on the trampoline. When he was around 3 he drove me crazy doing flips in our recliner or off the arm of the couch onto the couch. I eventually bought a trampoline so he would stop breaking all the house rules. Him and his friends love to wrestle and have "fights" on the trampoline.

That is sooo Jaxon! He has always been so amazing with animals. Especially reptiles. I still remember at the zoo I mistakenly called an animal just a lizard. Good Heavens was that wrong! "That is a Pagoda Dragon!" He is so great!
