9/18/17
We had a fun weekend. Paul, Grandpa, Ava, Greta and I went and watched Madison run in LaGrande, OR.
Synopsis: The girls got 1st by 30 points and the boys got 2nd and were only 6 points from 1st. The girls are ranked 4th in their conference but beat the #1 team from last year at this meet. Madison was very happy with her run. It was a great and smart race for her. She was not spent at the end and says she could have ran faster the first half of the race for a better overall time but she did exactly what her coaches told her to do. She ran a 20:45 and it was a slow course (says her coaches) with 3 hills, she was happy with her time and her coaches were too. She came in 9th for CofI. 31st/74 overall. The top runners told her how impressed they were that she came from her position in the beginning of the race, where the coaches had her, and finished within seconds of their 8th and 7th teammates. The team Captain wants her to run with her pack, we will see if they let her do that yet. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th girls on the team all have very close times and run most of the race in a pack. That is where the team Captain would like Madison, to have her run with them/her, I'm sure the coaches will put her there as soon as they think she is ready. She is very excited for her upcoming races.
Wil hit his first out of the park home run!! So exciting. We missed it but he said that he meant to hit a line drive to center and it popped up. He started running, praying no one caught it and when he rounded 2nd he realized it was out of the park. That he was home free! Such a fast boy, he didn't realize it was a home run until he had already rounded 2nd.
