We had family home evening tonight on keeping a family record. Paul read some scriptures from 3Nephi about Christ asking for Nephi's records when he visited America. The teachings of Samuel where not recorded and Christ asked why. Paul did a great job talking to the kids about why we need to keep updated records. We then got out our family journal & added a couple of pages along with decorating a new cover & back for our bigger binder. We had to upgrade, we started it 4 years ago & it has really grown.
For our activity we watched a new Merlin & had ice cream sandwiches. We finished just in time for Jaxon to make basketball practice. It was a great evening. Madison wanted club sandwiches & she was thrilled that I picked up what we needed at the store. Yummy dinner, good family home evening, fun show (about the dragon egg), & yummy ice cream sandwiches! It was a success!
Moments this mom wants to freeze in time -
Paul teaching the kids from the scriptures why we should keep a record of our family & why we should keep it updated.
Madison thanking me for such a great evening
Paul leading us in "Love at Home". My mom's favorite song.
Jaxon changing his attitude and cooperating with the family for a fun night. I love hearing "Yes, Mom" in a happy voice when I ask him to do something.
Greta taking time to write thoughtful messages on the front & back covers of our family journal. She took my requests seriously.
Wil also thought of meaningful things to write & at the end of the evening chose to go hang out with his Dad at Jaxon's basketball practice. They of course talked their Dad into Artic Circle afterwards.
Ava couldn't sit still during Family Home Evening but she snuggled with me for awhile during the show & is snuggling with me now. Time for sleepytown.
